Sorry my friend chooses to "shoot the messenger" instead of addressing the content of the article. Many are being reminded of just how big our political tent is and it is enlightening. Many who demand a voice in the Party are the last to listen.
Received the mail on Huckabee and appreciate the enthusiasm and understand why you would support him. He is the friendliest candidate in either party--I'd vote him best candidate to have a beer with (he could have a diet coke I think) and love to discuss issues and Arkansas from my days there. No criticism for his Life position, Marriage, and real 2nd Amendment rights (for founders reasons not just for hunting, thank you).
I really like his firm belief in God and respect his beliefs. I do feel a minister, rabbi, priest, et al is not the best choice as the leader of our beautiful country; I think many secularists are fanatic on this -I am not I just feel we need a person who believes in God and knows our country's Judeo-Christian foundation is needed (but not a minister). I respect those who differ. Huck is definitely a compassionate consrvative with all the pluses and minuses that specifies.
Yes, I believe he is still in the race and may possible come out of Tuesday ahead of Romney if the latter crashes. I believe Huckebee is supporting Mc Cain (he sure looked that way in CNN debate and on TV lately and with his religion statement on Mormonism) and I think he is bidding for VP which I think would be wrong as it would weaken McCain's campaign. If Huckebee would ever be the candidate for PresidentI think he would have worse results than even Goldwater. He might carry Georgia, Alabama and Mississippi, maybe one other state against Clinton Redux or the young (equally as friendly and even a better speaker than Huck) 'candidate in training'.
As I said in my letter to the editor the only issue that's critical in this campaign is the war on Islamo-fascist terrorism. If we lose the war all other issues--life, marriage, taxes, immigration, etc. would be irrelevant. That is why I supported the huge disappointment Rudy. It is also why I now support (while holding my nose and praying forhis conversion to Romney type Conservatism-2007 version) John Mc Cain. If he should win over Romney I hope he'll take Romney as his Veep. I don't want him to take Rudy which would have a backlash like Huck would in opposition to our ticket. Romney and Huck are young and they should both have a future in GOP politics.
I've had the hardest time selecting my personal choice this year than ever and Romney could possible sway me (maybe with the breakfast Tuesday). A lawyer from D.C. called me tonight from the McCain camp and I gave vent to my problems with McCain.
Best regards, See you all Tuesday
Allen
P.S. In my humble opinion if the WV Convention gives all delegates to Huck I believe it will be minimized as another "southern state". If we select McCain or Romney I think it will be covered and if we select Paul (NO,NO,NO) we will be laughed at.
P.P.S. I think a person I really like, Rush should stifle it. With McCain modifying his positions, as he should on the border, taxes, etc. Rush has gotten through to him. Rush seemed to have stopped on Huck, I'm glad.
