Senate Bill No. 607

Well it's about time! We will have to see if this is amended to be retroactive to the existing committees and/or the May 2006 election. Glad to see that the legislature is aware as to how these unelected members can literally change the course and the immediate future of a county, district or even State Executive Committees.

Four Republicans honored at Lincoln Day Dinner

PARKERSBURG — The Wood County Young Republicans have honored four outstanding Republicans Friday at its Lincoln Day Dinner.

The honorary title of emeritus member was conferred upon Marjorie Nicely, state Sen. Donna Boley, Delegate Larry Border and Leonard Rabatin. Nicely was recognized for her support of the Young Republicans and her representation of Republican ideals and values.

Boley and Border were recognized for their leadership in the West Virginia Legislature. Boley is a former Senate Republican leader and Border is the House Republican Whip.

Rabatin was recognized for his grass-roots support of the Republican Party and his support in establishing the Young Republicans.

Keynote speaker at the dinner was Secretary of State Betty Ireland. Also attending were state GOP Chairman Doug McKinney and West Virginia Young Republican Chairman Ashley Stinnett.

"Emeritus membership is given to recognize persons from our community who, through their examples and support, help encourage young people to become involved in the political process,’’ Young Republican Chairman Mike Howerton said. ‘‘We are so fortunate that there are so many supportive people here in this area.’’
